Despacito was released by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi in 2017 and became the number one streamed track in just 6 months. The song was a mix of reggaeton and pop music that not only drew attention to Latin music but as well reggaeton. In 2015 there were two mostly Spanish-language songs on Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, at the height of popularity for Despacito, 19 tracks mainly in Spanish made it to the Billboard Top 100. In 2020, the number will increase to 41 songs within this genre. Justin Bieber's bilingual remix Despacito was released in 2017. After that, some of the most famous artists began collaborating with reggaeton artists. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018), and Madonna was a part of Maluma for the release of Medellin. In 2020, a few Reggaeton artists were complaining about the direction of the genre toward the mainstream. But a newer generation, such as Rauw Alejandro was determined to keep the trend going. The group incorporated elements from different styles and electronic music.
