Shailene has been a popular American actor as well as activist. She became popular with her character Alexandra "Alex" King, a teenager suffering from drug addiction, on The Descendants. After her stellar performance in The Descendants she went on to perform several other characters that showcased her talents. Shailene was able to earn a place of prominence in the film industry early in her career. This is a feat in and of itself. She began her career in commercials and TV then moved on to Hollywood movies. Her talents as an actor have brought her many awards including MTV Movie Awards. People's Choice Awards. and Teen Choice Awards. In addition, she has been nominated for other prestigious awards, such as BAFTA Awards, Golden Globe Awards and Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition to being a top actor, Shailene Woodley is also an environmentalist and activist. She founded All it Takes, a non-profit group in the year 2010 together with her mother. She received the Entertainment Industry Environmental Leadership Award in 2016, at the 20th Anniversary Global Green Environmental Awards.
